Is Quicknote history ever coming back? I really miss that feature. If you have to get rid of another feature to make room, how about getting rid of make a new friend. I can get who my top 5 quicknote buddies are from the statistics page. And I don't need the site to recommend friends for me. Actually all that new friends list does is tell you who else is being chatted up by the same people chatting you up. I don't need to know that. Please bring back QN history.

oy the qn history, I guess it's never coming back, and i am pissed! and stargate, with your new name, why post about something you don't even have the luxury of using? is this a simple way to post about all the topics you can find?

I agree,. QN history should come back, and getting rid of make a new friend is also a good idea.

well people, we also want quicknote history back to be quite honest as well, and we're working on ways to bring it back. It's not make a new friend that's effecting it, actually, it's quicknote history, itself. See, thing is, people want all of their quicknotes, that they've ever written, since we first started saving quicknotes to be available for them to read at anytime. The problem with that is, it takes up a lot of server space, or server resources, or whatever, lol get Chris, or one of the other admins to explain it to you, but anyways, I guess to make a long explanation short, whenever you click on it, it'll take forever to load the page, and it'll only take longer and longer as people post more quicknotes, and those quicknotes are added to the database. I don't think I did the explanation justice, but, I'm sure that one of my fellow community leaders, or one of the admins can explain anything I might've left out.

Being clear Yankee, make a new friend is available for all. And I never use it and wish it be gone. I think the feature you got confused for premium is person watch. Don't worry I've gotten the two features mixed up before.

did I say anything about make a new friend? no! and you'd have to be really fuckin stupid to mix those features up, so...guess we learn about you every day, don't we blindvi?

Put a cork in it yankee. I get features mixed up all the time on here and why? Because I hardly come on here.

Get a life. At least I have one.

The purpose of my bringing up this topic was to see if quicknote history was coming back, not to give you two immature jerks to fight with each other.

Well, if you can't bring back quicknote history completely is there any way you could bring it back in a modified form? Like maybe for now we could only look up the past month or so until you guys can figure out a way to bring it back completely? Just a thought.

Since i was premium i saw quicknote history only for one day. The day when they moved to the new server and after that it disappeared again. I think it wouldn't make the site so slow if the people who have publick quicknotes off couldn't see the publick just private. What's the point reading quicknotes we never participated?

Ok. QN History is back for the previous 30 days, with quicknotes updated every 5 minutes. The problem is that their are currently 2,694,649 quicknotes in the database. In order for QN History to be able to work as it does, it has to look at all of those notes. When some idiot, oh I mean user, requests all quicknotes from November 2004 to present with a certain word, it has to look at a great deal of those notes to match the word. If public notes are searched, that's 1,311,820 public quicknotes. (Generating that number took 19.05 seconds, using indexed columns). For that reason we've cut down on the universe of available quicknotes. Also, for that reason, stats which use the total number of quicknotes tend to take a while to compute and slow down the site. I plan on caching the stats every hour or so and pulling from the cached copy, which should improve things.

is there any way to maybe down load your past qn to your computer?

Post 20 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 05-Mar-2006 23:22:50

I've thought of writing something to take a search of all quicknotes, run it when the site has relatively few users, and email you the results in some form. It's just a thought though; no guarantees.

Chris, it would be cool if you could do that for say pqn, as to me they are the conversations that are of some importance. I wanted the other day to look back at a conversation from when I first met someone, and sadly it couldn't be found any more.
